Black Friday - Every year stores try to allure prospective shoppers with early bird specials, door-busters and incredible one-day-only deals in hopes of pushing their revenues into the black in their ledger books for the year. The local paper will be consumed by Thanksgiving Day advertisements, offering the consumer a one day peak at the deals spread-out before them. If you have ever attempted to go Black Friday shopping you know that the stores will be hectic and the lines will be long many hours before the sun even rises. Some avoid the day not wanting to have to wait in long lines and endure early hours to get the deals. Others will prepare for the early morning frost, wait in line and hope they made it early enough to get that door-buster special.
I find myself in this later category. I love technology, but I rarely have the money, or find it prudent, to rush out and buy the latest thing when it first arrives. Instead, I calculate and wait for the best deal. Therefore, on the eve of Black Friday, I pour over the ads highlighting the possible deals that interest me. I develop a plan to successfully shop. I arise early, put on my coat and gloves and wait in line at 3:30am to get that 19″ flat panel monitor for $70 (last years success). My dilemma, however, is that I have to do all my research and planning in the course of 1 day in the midst of Thanksgiving celebrations. I would prefer to have research and plan which sale items I actually want to buy, so I can avoid making impulse purchases and multiple trips to the store for returns, and so I can enjoy my Thanksgiving with family not worrying if I did enough research.. This year I found my answer at bfads.net.
Black Friday Ads (bfads.net) is a site designed to give consumers a sneak peak into the sales of Black Friday. Bfads receives tips or leaked Black Friday ads which they then scan and list the products that will be on sale. This is exciting because I am in the market for a new desktop computer. Mine is currently 4 years old and the hard drive is on the fritz and it is sorely lacking memory to run many of the new programs that I would like to use. Using bfads.net I have spotted a couple of desktop units that I am researching to see if they are really the best deal for me. Reclaim the power of the smart consumer and use bfads to avoid the last minute confusion of Black Friday.
